Join Doug Thursday July 17 at the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden for Botanic Walk and Talk

I’ll be joining Dr. Mark Miller on Thursday July 17, 2025 for one of our occasional Botanic Walk and Talks. Our guided tour through the gardens and woods of the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden will focus on plants that show interest and thrive in the “dog days of summer.”
We have so much fun when we’re together. Dr. Miller is an amazing horticulturist and I’m the jokester.

The tour will be followed by a delicious lunch featuring seasonal produce, made by Slade Mankins, the Garden’s celebrated chef. During lunch, Doug and Mark will highlight seasonal tips, like preparing for planting a fall crop of fruits/vegetables. Doug will wax lyrical about his favorite seasonal plants and produce – and will have some produce from plants you may not know well.
$45 for members, $55 for non-members.
Register here.

The garden has a really cool art exhibit going on now too.
Momentum by Patrick Shearn of Poetic Kinetics features two site-specific kinetic sculptures, Momentum transforms the landscapes of the Lotus Pond and the Garden of the Five Senses by engaging the senses and challenging expectations around choice, perception, illusion, and time.
