The First Ever Pittsburgh Garlic Festival supports the good work of the South Hills Interfaith Movement.
Join me on Sunday August 23, 2026 from 12-3 p.m. for the First Ever Pittsburgh Garlic Festival in support of the South Hills Interfaith Movement (SHIM) at Flora Park in Bethel Park (inside South Park). Flora Park is an amazing garden center and offers the best ice cream you’ve ever had at their creamery. The festival is free and everyone is welcome. Bring your extra garden produce to donate to SHIM along with any shelf stable foods, personal hygiene items, diapers and pet food too. Cash donations will also be appreciated. Anyone who donates receives a free Dramm hose nozzle. We’ll have fresh garlic seed for sale used for planting courtesy of Janoski’s Farm and Greenhouse and will be presenting “Planting Garlic for Seven Different Harvests,” and explain how to avoid the allium leaf miner, a destructive garlic pest. Proceeds from the garlic sales go directly to SHIM. I'm making Ultimate Garlic Alfredo Pasta to serve to everyone who comes and I’ll guarantee you won’t have to worry about vampires after tasting this dish! Dramm has also donated Drammatic organic fertilizer and a watering can that will be given away with a random drawing. Music will be provided by Day One, a great local band. Auntie Anne’s Pretzel Truck will be there, get a taste of spotted lanternfly honey too and learn about honeybees, enjoy a scavenger hunt and face painting too. The Bethel Park Fire Department will also bring a ladder truck and volunteers to meet the kids. SHIM has gardens all over the South Hills that provide produce for those who need it and also big community gardens too. SHIM also helps people in many ways, providing a wide range of services, food and items for those in need. I hope you’ll join me for a fun event supporting a great cause.
