Tribute to Joe Hamm

Joe Hamm in his Washington County garden of unique daffodils.

Joe Hamm passed away on Monday May 25, 2026. He was a dear friend and spent much of his life preserving historic daffodil varieties along with spreading the word about the harbingers of spring.
Each spring he opened up his beautiful garden for free and sent hundreds of visitors home with an amazing bouquet of flowers.
I feel lucky to have known Joe, he was a sweet soul who loved gardening, growing lots of different things and especially daffodils.
Here’s his official obituary.
I wrote this story about Joe and his amazing garden. Check out the photos of his unique varieties.
The video below was part of In Doug’s Garden by Davey Tree and showcases Joe’s love of daffodils.
